Guests attending were District President, Ruth O'Donnel as well as auxiliary members from Hershey, West Shore Area and Calder Area Posts.  The Auxiliary is quite proud of all its accomplishments. One of the first projects was to raise money for the veterans at the Lebanon VA Hospital, which is still one of our most important projects. The donations of money or of books and personal care items as well as lap robes for the veterans who are in wheelchairs. Also, the Auxiliary sponsors a monthly birthday party as well as two bingo party's each year. The Strawberry Festival and homemade quilts were some of the first money making projects the auxiliary used to support the programs. As the years progressed, bingo, bake and soup sales, ham dinners, and rummage sales were used to raise much need funds. For years the Auxiliary has been involved in the food stands at the Harrisburg State Farm Show Building, as well as selling items such as Tupperware, Stanley, and Avon. One of the highlights of our Buddy Poppy program was taking First Place in District, State and National in 1981. Also, the Auxiliary was proud to sponsor the formation of our first Junior Girls Unit on November 5, 1980. The Auxiliary takes an active part in most of our community functions. This includes helping senior citizens, the fire company, and recreation groups as well as entertaining the children on special holidays including Christmas and Easter. Since our 40th Anniversary, the Auxiliary is still active in all of the programs and has won several District, State and National awards for Safety, Community Activities, Publicity, Rehabilitation, Cancer, Membership, and Buddy Poppy. We also support the Capital Area Therapeutic Riding Association, the Grantville Volunteer Fire Company's annual Halloween parade, The East Hanover Football Association Cheerleaders, and the West Hanover Softball Association. Our auxiliary has the honor of three Past District 18 Presidents. Several of our members also serve as District 18 and Department program chairmen. With 522 members including 99 life members, the Auxiliary continues to support veterans with only one goal in mind, THE BETTERMENT OF OUR VETERANS.
